Matt LaFleur Clears Stance on Jaire Alexander’s Packers Future After CB Ignored Jordan Love

The Packers wrapped up the 2025 NFL draft with some important picks. From WR Matthew Golden in the first round to CB Micah Robinson and OT John Williams in the last round, Matt LaFleur‘s team is making headlines. However, as they have solved their offensive and defensive problems, the franchise’s head coach has dealt with another issue and shut down the rumors around Jordan Love‘s veteran CB. 

A week ago, CB Jaire Alexander‘s 2025 and 2026 salary, that is, $34.3M, was a problem for the Packers, per rumors. The rumors were swirling down in the city that the Packers may trade their 2018 season’s 18th overall pick, Jaire Alexander. But HC has clarified through the media that the CB will be available at practice in the voluntary workouts. According to his contract, he should earn a $700,000 workout bonus for the 2025 season instead of missing the workouts. 

While giving the update, NFL reporter Rob Demovsky wrote on his X/Twitter that Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Jaire Alexander took part in the opening of the voluntary offseason program last week, which was virtual because of the draft being in town. Players will be back here on Monday with the rookie minicamp to follow next weekend.

And while the franchise was reportedly thinking about CB’s trade, Jordan Love sent an indirect message to the front office regarding CB Jaire Alexander. He said on Up and Admas, “Ja, he’s got his own world going on. I’m going to let him handle his own business and see what’s going on. But that’s my guy right there.” And also added, “He’s definitely a player we need back. Just the play style he plays with, and who he is on the field. I mean, that’s a guy we need to have around. So, we’ll see what happens.”
