Nearly 12 years after the final chapter of Naruto released, fans perhaps felt there was no hope left of a proper sequel manga depicting Naruto Uzumaki and his friends entering young adulthood, parenthood, and moving up in their lives. It felt like the closest thing to this would be the Boruto sequel manga, but thanks to a stunning announcement trailer at New York Comic Con 2026 to close out the Naruto franchise panel, it turns out the franchise has enough bandwidth to do both. While Boruto: Two Blue Vortex continues its story, Masashi Kishimoto has been confirmed to be working on a new Naruto manga, revealed onstage and streamed online for the world to see.
