Marvel promises to kill off a major X-Mencharacter this year, but the identity of this fallen hero remains under wraps. The X-Men are more than acquainted with death, as the concept of mortality has practically become a recurring rite of passage for mutantkind in both the comics and the movies. In both mediums, several of the X-Men's most iconic figures have perished multiple times, only to defy death through cloning, timeline manipulation, or simply through literal resurrection. Jean Grey is the poster child for the cycle of death and resurrection, though other heroes like Charles Xavier and Quentin Quire have become synonymous with death.
