Marvel's Spider-Manreboot introduces a new version of Peter Parker's superhero origin story, with a dark twist that turns the wall-crawler's superpowers into a horror movie. Across the vast majority of Marvel universes, most versions of Peter Parker gain their powers from a genetically altered spider's bite, and their tragic failure to stop a fleeing criminal results in Uncle Ben's death, teaching Peter the lesson that "with great power there must also come great responsibility". This sequence of events is the ultimate canon event that makes Spider-Man the most important hero in almost every timeline of the Marvel multiverse.
