Mark Williams believes Judd Trump making 100 centuries in a season is and ‘incredible’ achievement and only two other players in snooker would ‘have a sniff’ of matching it.
Trump has made the 100 tons in a campaign for the second time in his career, making his 104th during his World Championship quarter-final win over Luca Brecel, which is a record total for a season.
Only three times has the milestone of 100 centuries been reached in a season, with Trump doing it twice and Neil Robertson the other man to manage it.
Williams knows those two players can manage it and says Ronnie O’Sullivan is the only other who could and only if he played in a lot more tournaments than he currently does.
‘I think it’s incredible really,’ Williams said of Trump’s money-spinning achievement this season. ‘They put the bonus of £100,000 for 100.
‘There’s only three players who got a chance of getting that: Judd, Neil Robertson and O’Sullivan if he played in every tournament.
‘There’s no other player who has got a sniff of winning that £100,000 bonus.’

Trump is second on the all-time list of century-makers with 1,084 to his name, only behind O’Sullivan who is out in front by over 200.
‘He’s relentless,’ said Williams. ‘He knocks hundreds in for fun. What is he on? A thousand centuries?
‘I know people that go on about, there’s a lot more tournaments now and if he had these tournaments back in the day, Ronnie would be on two or three thousand centuries, which is probably true. But you can only compete with the tournaments you have in your era and what he’s doing, break-building, the tournaments he’s winning.

‘The standard is high, you’re going to be playing well all the time. I take my hat off to him and I think probably he doesn’t get the credit he deserves really.
‘All he’s missing on his CV probably is another World Championship and if he gets another one of them, he has to be one of the greatest of all time.’
100 centuries in a season
2013/14: Neil Robertson – 103
2019/20: Judd Trump – 102
2024/25: Judd Trump – 104 (so far)
Williams and Trump meet in the World Championship semi-final, which gets underway on Thursday night at the Crucible.
It is a repeat of the same stage from 2022 when the pair played out a classic, won 17-16 by Trump after Williams had battled back from 11-4 behind.
Asked if he is on a revenge mission as they head into their semi-final this time round, that thought was a long way from the Welshman’s mind.
‘There’s no revenge for me anymore,’ he said. ‘It’s just play the best I can, do the best I can. That’s all I can do.
‘I’m just happy and proud of myself that I’m still here. You know, 2018, seven years after I won it, I’m in a semi-final again. Don’t ask me how, I’ve just got to enjoy it.’
