Paramount Pictures has released the final trailer for By Any Means, an upcoming crime thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Directed by Elegance Bratton, the film is set in 1966 Mississippi and follows a young Black FBI agent who is investigating the murders of civil rights leaders. In order to solve the case, he joins hands with mafia hitman Gregory Scarpa. Inspired by true events, the film is set to be released in theatres on September 4, 2026.

By Any Means trailer reveals Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as FBI agent Wayne Strider, who is frustrated with the rise in unsolved cases related to the killings of civil rights leaders in 1960s Mississippi. Determined to bring justice and do something more than a desk job, he’s given an unconventional solution- to partner up with someone tied to organized crime, the infamous mafia hitman Gregory Scarpa (Mark Wahlberg).

The trailer highlights the tense partnership between Strider and Scarpa, who are very different from each other. Strider wants to bring justice and solve the case through his position as an FBI agent, whereas Scarpa prefers using violence and intimidation to get the information. Their different approaches to things create chaos but make them an effective team.

Mark Wahlberg can be seen completely transformed into real-life Gregory Scarpa with hair, makeup, and styling, making him look nearly unrecognizable. The trailer also gives visuals of shootouts, confrontations, and violence, as Strider and Scarpa are set on a mission to expose the truth behind the killings. The film also stars Nicole Beharie, Josh Lucas, David Strathairn, Ethan Embry, and Giancarlo Esposito.

In an interview with Variety, director Elegance Bratton talked about the film and said, “This is a story about unlikely alliances forged under impossible circumstances — where justice is not clean, and the truth comes at a cost.” He added, “I wanted to explore what it means to confront violence not just as an act, but as a system — and what it demands of those caught inside it.”
