Alabama and Duke faced off in one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the college basketball season. With a trip to the Final Four on the line, the top-seeded Blue Devils proved too strong, defeating No. 2 Alabama 85-65 in the Elite Eight. Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide had one of the toughest schedules in the country and held their own throughout March Madness, but their run came to an end against a powerhouse Duke squad.

While Alabama fell short of a Final Four berth, Oats still walked away with a nice bonus from the tournament run.

Sports projector Steve highlighted through X: “Duke advances to NCAA men’s Final Four by beating Alabama. Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats finishes season with $125,000 in bonuses.”

Oats, who has been building Alabama into a legit contender, is already one of the better-paid coaches in men’s college basketball. According to USA Today, he earns $5 million per year, ranking him 10th among the highest-paid coaches in the sport.

Even though Alabama couldn’t take that next step, Oats’ tournament bonus adds to his strong compensation package. Now, the focus shifts to next season as he looks to take the Crimson Tide even further.
