The suspects emerged from a black BMW on Deepdale Road before assaulting the 48-year-old on April 18.

After knocking the victim unconscious, the suspects fled from the scene.

Sadly, the unnamed 48-year-old passed away from an illness before his attackers could get brought to justice.

Now, police are appealing to “witnesses” and “anyone with doorbell footage, CCTV or dashcam” to come forward.

Authorities have asked anyone with information to call the number 101, quoting reference number SE25069722.

The incident comes just months after a region in Middlesborough was branded as the most dangerous place to live in the country.

The Cleveland police area sees 128.5 offences per 1000 people and locals have reported being terrorised by local gangs.

One resident, a 58-year-old carer named David Liddell said: “The crime figures are no surprise to me at all.

“Knife crime here is horrific.

“One of our carers was the victim of an attack so now we have to double up. There were three lads outside a house waiting.

“Since then two carers have got to go in together in case one needs to call for help.

“The council have to foot the bill so it’s doubling the price for them.

“There’s loads of bikes, quad bikes, drugs runners.”
