A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star has dropped a major spoiler which left his co-star ‘freaking out’ live on TV.
Based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas by George R. R. Martin, the Game of Thrones spin-off follows Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his nine-year-old squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell).
So far, the six-part series has left fans ecstatic, who are praising the show’s’lighter tone’ compared to the original series.
However, following an appearance on the Decider YouTube channel where Claffey and Ansell made their own sock puppets, eagle-eyed fans noticed a ‘massive spoiler’ that was for some reason not cut out of the edit.
Reacting to the clip on Reddit, @asoiaf said Claffey looked as though he was ‘freaking out’ as he ‘jokingly gestured to the cameras to cut’.
To find out more about the spoiler, Metro will reveal what was said below…
Asked by the presenter about the futures of their characters and if they have heard of a word called ‘Summerhall’, Ansell replied: ‘Yes, we have. I don’t know about Peter but I do know a bit about when Egg is trying to make dragons in the summer hall and then there is a huge fire.’
Claffey then interrupts, saying: ‘We don’t know if that’s exactly what happens.’
However, before he can continue, Ansell adds: ‘But we do know that Dunk survives,’ which causes Claffey to make a ‘cut’ gesture to camera.
What does Metro think of the Game of Thrones spin-off?
Claffey then continues by saying: ‘We don’t know if that exactly happens, let’s just get this season one out of the way.’
Responding to the clip online, Jack claimed ‘this is genuinely the biggest lore drop we’ve had in years lmao,’ as Calvin commented under the video: ‘This is a massive spoiler I can’t believe they didn’t edit this out lol!’
Jada also wrote: ‘Dexter just casually spoiling the future seasons of the story,’ as @nope.2284 echoed: ‘This is an epic, epic spoiler and I am shooketh.’
The spoiler in question references the Tragedy at Summerhall, which is one of the most mysterious events in Targaryen history.
So far, fans of Martin’s book series only knew that the Targaryen dynasty never regained its numbers, with Aegon V’s reign ending there.
It is believed that there was a fire that destroyed the Targaryen summer castle, resulting in the deaths of King Aegon V, his son Prince Duncan and Ser Duncan the Tall.
Jaime Lannister also mentioned Summerhall in an anecdote about the Kingsguard.
In the episode A Storm of Swords Jaime reflects on the history of his position, noting that Ser Duncan the Tall ‘burned beside his King at Summerhall’.
The knight looked at the White Book, comparing legends of the past, such as those at Summerhall, to his own tarnished reputation.
