The Australian filmmaker, George Miller, first introduced audiences to the wild world of Mad Max in 1979. Mad Max: Fury Road was released in 2015, a full 30 years after the previous film in the series thanks to years of development hell, and, like the others, is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where gasoline and water are in short supply. It received critical acclaim and was nominated for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture, and won six. It was followed by the prequel Furiosa in 2024.
