Mack digs for the truth on Charity’s deep secret in Emmerdale

Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) baby secret won’t remain a secret much longer in Emmerdale now that husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) is back.

Mack has been through a lot in the last few weeks, having barely survived John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) attempt to kill him with a bow and arrow and stashing him in a bunker to die for discovering John’s true identity.

But as he returns to normal life, he’s back to face the unwanted surrogacy.

When he and Charity previously argued about her being a surrogate and her forgetting the anniversary of their miscarriage because she was so caught up in having someone else’s baby, she went off and did what Charity does best – hit the self-destruct button and the wine bottle.

During that time, she also took leave of her senses and fell into bed with Ross Barton (Michael Parr) despite Mack having a fair point.

Having cheated on Mack, this quickly became a huge issue as not long after, Charity discovered she was pregnant.

A miracle in Sarah’s (Katie Hill) eyes after Charity had said the implantation hadn’t been successful. The truth was that there was an extortionately high chance the baby was Ross’.

Ross twigged this and spent weeks plaguing Charity with demands to do a DNA test.

For a long time, she managed to fend him off, but eventually things became too much, and she agreed to do the test. An agonising 10 day wait for results followed.

Mack is suspicious, as is Chas, who has previously spotted Charity and Ross in cahoots the day of the DNA test.

Charity’s guilt is leaking through her pores and Mack notices how odd she’s behaving around Sarah. He knows something is up and tries to get Charity to confess to whatever she’s hiding.

He digs about whether she is worried Sarah is getting too excited, but Charity can’t face reality and unsubtly changes the subject.

Her lie is just inches beneath the surface, what will be the trigger to make it come out?
