Liz Truss Prompts One Huge, Collective Eye Roll After Her Latest Attack On The PM

Liz Truss has attracted further mockery from her online critics today after trying to predict how long Keir Starmer will be in office.

The former prime minister – who holds the record for the shortest tenure in No.10 ever, having spent just 49 days in Downing Street – hit out at the Labour PM after his latest bid to crackdown on immigration.

Responding to Starmer’s promise to cut net migration significantly by the end of the decade, Truss wrote: “He’ll be out of office by then.”

The prime minister has already been in office for 311 days, since July 5 last year. That’s more than six times longer than Truss spent in the same post.

She was kicked out by her own MPs in October 2022 after her disastrous mini-Budget, complete with £45bn of unfunded tax cuts, sent the pound into decline and the markets into turmoil.

Truss subsequently lost her seat in the July general election after her 26,195 majority was overturned by Labour’s Terry Jermy.

It meant that Truss was the first former prime minister in nearly 90 years to lose their seat.

It was a particularly humiliating moment during a night full of embarrassments for the Conservatives.

So, naturally, the internet was very keen to remind her of this. 

It’s far from the first time Truss has tried to attack the Labour government.

Just an hour before she guessed how long Starmer would last, she claimed on social media that Labour “seem to regret everything they did in their first six months of office”.

“It’s because they completely misread the state of the country/system,” she said, apparently forgetting her own deeply unpopular policies.
