Editor's Note: The following article contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*.Before Lewis Pullmanwas cast to play Bob Reynolds in Thunderbolts*, the original plan was for Steven Yeunto portray the man who would become the Sentry. However, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Yeun would end up departing the film due to scheduling issues. Interestingly, The Bear's Ayo Edebiri was also attached to the movie to play Mel but dropped out for similar reasons, with Geraldine Viswanathan taking over the role. Pullman ultimately stepped up to portray Bob, delivering a phenomenal performance that captured a man struggling with his mental health and the weight of godlike power. This power manifests in full when he becomes the Sentry, and later the eldritch monstrosity known as the Void. This approach won over multiple viewers — including the Sentry's co-creator Paul Jenkins, who praised Pullman's ability to pull off three distinct characters. Yet as a fan of Steven Yeun's work, I definitely feel like he would have delivered an amazing performance as Bob Reynolds.
