While Warner Bros' hot streak of delivering $40 million-plus opening weekend hauls this year is ending, the studio can heave a sigh of relief after pushing director Paul Thomas Anderson's latest (and most expensive) film, One Battle After Another, past the $20 million mark. The action movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, grossed around $9 million at the domestic box office on Friday, including the $3.1 million that it made in Thursday previews. One Battle After Anotheris looking at a $20 million-plus opening across its first weekend of release, which would put it in the same range as DiCaprio's last theatrical venture, Killers of the Flower Moon. This is also around twice the opening weekend haul of his 2008 spy thriller Body of Lies, directed by Ridley Scott and co-starring Russell Crowe.
