Clayton Kershaw could make his final MLB start on Sunday.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters before the team’s game against the Seattle Mariners that Kershaw will pitch a normal start and that the 37-year-old won’t be available for this week’s wild-card series.
Roberts added that Kershaw would be available if Los Angeles advances to the NLDS.
Kershaw, who announced that the 2025 season will be his last earlier this month, received a standing ovation during his last regular-season start at Dodger Stadium on Sept. 19.

The three-time Cy Young winner and 2014 NL MVP has provided the Dodgers with some key innings this season, pitching to a 3.52 ERA over 107.1 frames while collecting a 10-2 record.
Los Angeles has clinched its spot as the No. 3 seed in the National League and will face either the New York Mets or Cincinnati Reds in the three-game wild-card series.
With a number of quality starting pitching options available for the post-season — Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow — it was unlikely that Kershaw would have cracked the rotation in a short series.
Regardless, the Dodgers will hope to handle business in the wild card so that Kershaw can return to the mound for one final playoff run in his 18-year career.
