Sir Keir Starmer is hopeful his beloved Arsenal will win the Champions League, with the UK Prime Minister heaping praise on one of their English talents.
While Arsenal were unable to stop Liverpool from winning the Premier League, they could still become European champions for the first time in their history.
After brilliantly knocking out holders Real Madrid, the Gunners take on PSG for a place in the UCL final, with the first-leg of their semi-final tie in north London on Tuesday night.
Starmer, a longtime season ticket holder at the Emirates, was in the stands to watch Mikel Arteta’s side defeat Los Blancos 3-0 earlier this month.
‘Absolutely phenomenal night at the Emirates. I think that’s the best game at the Emirates since the stadium was put up,’ the Prime Minister told football.london of the experience.

‘Probably an equally good game in the away leg as well because that required real resilience.
‘An English club doing really well in Europe, and great English players on the pitch as well. Look at Myles Lewis-Skelly, look at Declan Rice, who was a player of the game for both legs.

‘These are incredible players, Bukayo Saka, of course, really good English players. It was an amazing night. Just got to hope that we go all the way now.’
As mentioned, Arsenal boast a number of talented Three Lions stars with teenager Lewis-Skelly the latest to make his breakthrough for club and country.
Few had heard of the left-back at the start of the season, but he is now a key player for Arteta and even scored the the first goal of the Thomas Tuchel England era on his debut in March.

‘To see him score, I think it was 20 minutes in on his debut for England, was a real moment,’ Starmer added.
‘He’s an incredibly accomplished player already. It’s hard to believe he’s only 18. When he was going head-to-head with Jude Bellingham in that Real game, it was just to see the confidence that he had.
‘He’s a great player, a really great addition. I’m really proud of him.’
Following the clash at the Emirates, Arsenal will travel to Paris next Wednesday for the semi-final second-leg and if triumphant they will play either Barcelona or Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Munich on May 31.
