Keanu Reeves has expressed interest in reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand in the much-awaited follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. In a recent interview, the Matrix star addressed the possibility of returning for Cyberpunk 2, which is currently under development.

Keanu Reeves would love to play Johnny Silverhand from Cyberpunk 2077 again

During an interaction with IGN about his upcoming movie, Good Fortune, Keanu Reeves revealed that he is more than willing to don the mantle of his rockstar terrorist character in the confirmed sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

“Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again,” the actor shared. However, he did not reveal whether he’s had any discussions with CD Projekt Red regarding his potential involvement in Cyberpunk 2.

Reeves made his debut as Johnny Silverhand in 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077, providing his voice and likeness to the character while also engaging in motion capture to perfect the former’s demeanor. Reeves then reprised the now-iconic role for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, a major expansion pack that came out in 2023 and introduced a new plot, characters, as well as regions to the game’s map.

Apart from Reeves, Phantom Liberty featured yet another Hollywood mainstay in the form of Idris Elba, who portrayed a Federal Intelligence Agency operative named Solomon Reed. While Reeves may have greenlit his return in the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel on his end, it remains unclear if the forthcoming video game will feature the character of Johnny Silverhand at all.

In the original game, Silverhand, a rockstar equipped with a bionic left arm, is showcased as a character who lost his life before the events of the game transpire. With his consciousness implanted on a military biochip, players get to interact with the eccentric personality after receiving the same biochip. However, since Cyberpunk 2077 has multiple endings, the fate of Silverhand depends solely on how the user chooses to play the game.

As such, there is much room for CD Projekt Red to include Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand in the upcoming sequel, be it as a playable character or in flashback cutscenes.
