Kai Trump, a 19-year-old freshman golfer at the University of Miami, announced on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, that she underwent surgery for a left wrist injury. The procedure marks a medical setback for Trump, whose debut collegiate season has been interrupted.

The injury occurred during her first collegiate tournament, the Golfweek Fall Challenge in South Carolina. While playing a shot, her club hit a hidden cart path underground. The impact resulted in a partial tear to her triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) and ligaments.

This is Kai Trump’s second surgery on her left wrist; the first was in January 2026.

The surgery took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. While the university has not yet released a specific timeline for her return to competition, the recovery process will likely sideline her as she focuses on rehabilitation.

Her absence comes as the University of Miami women’s golf team is currently ranked No. 7 nationally. Trump had been expected to be a contributor to the roster during her freshman year.
