A recent incident has shaken the track and field world significantly. While doping is a common occurrence in the sport, oftentimes, the name associated with it causes waves within the community. One such incident happened with the Director of Track and Field and XC at Montverde Academy (Prep). In a shocking turn of events, Gerald Phiri has received provisional suspension from the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU). This is part of a joint investigation with the Anti-Doping agency, USADA.
And if this was not enough, there is more shocking news getting unearthed. Phiri has been allegedly found to be possessing (GW1516, Meldomiun), a banned substance that goes against the anti-doping guidelines. The initial investigation was conducted when three athletes who received coaching under Phiri were found guilty of having an identical substance in their system. According to reports from FloTrack, all three athletes returned ‘Adverse Analytical Findings’ when tested for GW1516, Meldomiun.
