What do we know about Josh Hartnett’s Netflix show?
The as-of-yet untitled series will be set in and filmed in Newfoundland, Canada, and will see Hartnett star and executive produce the project. The only thing known about it as of now are that it will follow a “mysterious sea creature” that begins terrorizing a town, and a “a hard-bitten fisherman” who “must fight to protect his family, his community and his vanishing way of life.”
Jesse McKeown is the creator and showrunner of the series. She will also serve as an executive producer, as will Jessica Rhoades. Netflix confirmed the news on social media, sharing the news as well as who Hartnett will be playing.
Hartnett’s career has had a renaissance of sorts over the past few years. After staring in a number of high-profile films in the early 2000s, Hartnett appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, then starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2024 film Trap, as well as 2025’s Fight or Flight.
Up next for Hartnett is a role in Michael Showalter’s 2026 film Verity, as well as a role in James Franco’s movie The Long Home, which has no release information.
