Joel Kinnaman fans rejoiced this week as he appeared in a supporting role in the new Netflix series Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole. Kinnaman has had a rather dramatic career in Hollywood after breaking out with the Swedish crime movie Snabba Cash. A role in the new Detective Hole series brings things full circle: He began his Hollywood journey with a main role in the similar television thriller The Killingbefore going on to star in major studio movies and franchise properties. However, Kinnaman has always had a difficult time drawing large audiences. His RoboCop remake simply wasn't successful enough to launch a franchise, and his other star vehicles also appear to have a box-office ceiling. Among the more recent ones is a movie that underperformed commercially despite a fresh take on familiar tropes.
