Actor and producer John Boyega, widely known for portraying Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, stated in a recent interaction that he met MCU boss Kevin Feige. There has been speculation for a while among fans on whether Boyega would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that if he does, what role he can play. During the interview, Boyega reflected on whether he would be open to playing Bishop, a popular Marvel Comics character often associated with the X-Men.
John Boyega won’t join Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon
John Boyega spoke on the prospects of him joining the MCU during an interaction with Josh Horowitz at this year’s C2E2. He confirmed that he met Feige but made it clear that he didn’t want to join the franchise, at least for now, and preferred to be an audience member instead.
“I think they’re very busy…” Boyega stated, adding that there was “no room” for him in the franchise. He elaborated, “I’ll be real. I can’t wait to watch it because I think with Marvel, and everything after Endgame, I was like, ‘Wow, how are they going to, you know, expand the universe after saving the universe?’ So, I think that as just an audience watcher, you know.”
The Woman King actor mentioned he had sat down with Kevin Feige. He explained, “I’ve been over to those guys, but I’m just going to enjoy it for now because there’s a lot going on, you know. But I’m looking forward to watching it.”
As previously reported by SuperHeroHype, Boyega revealed later during the interview that Feige once asked him what character he wanted to play in the MCU. A fan in the audience at the C2E2 suggested that Boyega could play Bishop, a character previously played by Omar Sy in the 2014 live-action movie X-Men: Days of Future Past. In response, Boyege expressed his interest in essaying the role.
