John Bishop has cancelled the US and Canadian dates of his tour after a motorbike accident has left him unable to fly.
The comedian, 59, revealed he has broken his ankle and is required to wear a massive boot to aid his recovery.
‘One of the consequences that I found out about breaking your ankle is that you have to wear this boot for six weeks,’ he wrote on X.
John continued: ‘And when you’re wearing this boot, you can’t fly long haul flights and because of that, I’ve got to cancel the tours I was gonna do in Canada and America in October.
‘This is a message to apologise to everyone that we’ve had to cancel it for obvious reasons I’m not able to fly.’
Earlier this month, the Liverpudlian was rushed to hospital after coming off his motorbike while on a ride with astronaut Tim Peake, 54.
At the time, he was forced to pull out of a charity bike ride for Prostate Cancer UK with Chris Hoy that was set to take place days later.
John confirmed that he was hoping to reschedule the dates, which included six shows between October 15 and October 25.
He was due to perform in New York and Boston as well as shows in Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto.
‘I apologise but under medical advice, I’m not to be a kn**b-head and crash my motorbike again,’ John concluded.
The comedian has found his star power boosted in the US after his life served as the inspiration for a Hollywood film called Is This Thing On?
He met Will Arnett, 55, on a canal boat in Amsterdam and told the Arrested Development star about his unusual path into comedy after his divorce.
While John didn’t star in the film – or even get asked for a cameo as he revealed on Graham Norton – he did walk red carpets in the US.
Talking about how surreal the whole thing had been, including attending the film’s premiere with his family, he explained: ‘This isn’t our life, it’s not our world, so everyone was getting a bit excited beforehand.
‘The boys said to me: “Dad, do not be a kn**head. Everyone on red carpets looks cool so don’t smile like you’re a competition winner!”
‘They all got the cool memo, and there I was grinning ear to ear!’
This Thing On? was released last year with Bradley Cooper as the director, Laura Dern as the Bishop-inspired comedian’s wife, and Claudia Winkleman’s husband, Kris Thykier, as producer.
