Rumors of Jenna Ortega appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been floating around for some time, and recently the actress took time to address them.

What did Jenna Ortega say about being in the MCU?

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight alongside Paul Rudd, Ortega was asked about whether or not she’d ever want to step into the world of superhero franchises, and join the MCU.

Ortega didn’t seem too interested in the idea, shooting it down while also noting that she actually had already appeared in an MCU movie.“I did it once,” the actress said. “But it was one of the first jobs I ever did, and they took all my lines out.”

The movie she’s referring to is 2013’s Iron Man 3, where Ortega very briefly appears as the daughter of the U.S. Vice President (played by Miguel Ferrer). Her Death of a Unicorn co-star Paul Rudd tried to lay the crumbs for a potential future appearance by teasing that Marvel could turn her character into something, but Ortega also shot that down.

“They even took my name away,” joked Ortega, before noting, “I count that, and I move on.”

Ortega’s name has been a popular one in terms of fancasting for various MCU roles. Most recently, rumors of her potentially playing Kitty Pryde, also known as the X-Men Shadowcat, began making the rounds, leading fans to get excited about the possibility of seeing Ortega in the MCU all over again.

Despite the lack of superhero content in her future, Ortega will have plenty to keep her busy. She’ll star next in A24’s Death of a Unicorn alongside Paul Rudd, and will also star in the upcoming musical psychological thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow alongside The Weeknd, Abel Tesfaye.
