Jedward hit back at Celebrity Big Brother housemate’s ‘wild’ complaints

Jedward have fired back after being insulted by Chris Hughes in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The former Love Island star, 32, and fellow housemate JoJo Siwa, 21, have been nicknamed after the famous twins owing to their close and zany friendship.

In the Diary Room, the Karma Singer revealed she and Chris had been named ‘the Jedwards’ by frontrunner to win the ITV show, Danny Beard, 32, but was baffled over their identity.

When Big Brother asked if she understood the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star’s reference, JoJo professed ignorance before explaining that Chris told her they were ‘two annoying Irish twins.’

However, Jedward, 33, have not taken kindly to Chris’s ‘wild’ comment and also disputed JoJo’s claim that she had no idea who they were.

On X, they wrote: ‘It’s wild Chris said what he said cuz he’s all over Jojo, who is the girl version of us! We didn’t know who Chris was until Gemma Collins told us #cbb.’

Serving up the receipts, Jedward posted two pictures of themselves with JoJo at what looked like the backstage artists-only area of a festival and wrote: ‘We literally met and told JoJo to do cbb ! JoJo to win.’

Jedward are seasoned pros at Celebrity Big Brother, having competed on the reality TV show not once but twice.

They first entered in Big Brother house in 2011 and finished in third place before being runners-up in the all-stars version in 2017 to winner Coleen Nolan.

JoJo and Chris gravitated towards one another early doors when he defended her against homophobic language used by Mickey Rourke.

In the weeks since, they’ve developed a sweet, tactile bond, which often sees them cuddling in bed, giving one another back rubs, and sharing deep conversations.

Their friendship, however, has raised eyebrows among some viewers as JoJo has a partner, Kath Ebbs, while others have insisted they are just pals who enjoy affection.

Earlier this week, Spin-off show Late & Live delved into the situation during which former Strictly Come Dancing pro Oti Mabuse was keen to make her position clear.

After it was suggested by others that their closeness is ‘not normal,’ Oti chimed in: ‘Can I just say, I don’t mind their friendship.

‘As a professional dancer, we are quite tactile people anyway, so we don’t mind touching.

‘We don’t mind touching and being really close because their friendship is actually showing other people’s insecurities and thinking, “Why are we not in that duo?” and it’s just showing who they are.’

While Jedward are throwing their weight behind JoJo for the win, according to bookies Ladbrokes, she’s predicted to finish in third place.

Instead, the betting firm believes Danny is the one to beat with odds of 11/10.

The second most likely to win Celebrity Big Brother is Coronation Street star Jack P Shephard (7/3), followed by JoJo (5/1).

Rounding out the list are Chris (12/1), Donna Preston (16/1) and Chesney Hawkes (50/1).

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: ‘Danny has been there or thereabout at the head of the CBB betting since the second this year’s celebs walked through the doors – and the latest odds suggest it’s now Danny’s to lose.’

Ladbrokes aren’t the only ones convinced Danny’s got this in the bag. Andy Gibbs wrote on X: ‘I can see Danny Beard winning this’ while Steven joked ‘Danny hilarious [when] he was drunk, hope he wins, certainly deserves it, already has my five votes!’

Rhys Addison, meanwhile, put Danny in the number one spot of his top three contestants, although @Cicardo92 couldn’t decide between the RuPaul’s Drag Race star and Jack, saying ‘those two are the winners for me.’

Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
