Following Peacemaker’s success, James Gunn has all but confirmed the advent of other Charlton Comics characters in upcoming DCU projects. In a recent social media interaction, the DC Studios co-CEO answered a fan query about the possible appearance of certain characters in the DCU, suggesting that more Charlton superheroes could soon make their debuts in his revamped cinematic universe.

Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, and The Question can soon make their DCU debuts

While complimenting James Gunn on his recent DCU projects, a Threads user asked the filmmaker if he has any plans of introducing “more Charlton characters, like the original Blue Beetle or Captain Atom, The Question.” Even though Gunn shied away from giving a definitive response, he did issue a positive reply to the question by saying, “You might be in luck.”

Charlton Comics was a popular comics publisher that introduced several fan-favorite characters between the 1940s and the 1980s. After that, the company was purchased by DC Comics, causing all of its characters to come under the DC banner.

Two of the most popular Charlton Comics heroes have already appeared in the DCU, in the form of John Cena’s Peacemaker and Nhut Le’s Judomaster, with more debuts to follow as per Gunn’s latest comment.

The Charlton characters that are most likely to make their DCU debuts in the near future include Captain Atom and The Question. However, fans seem most excited about Blue Beetle’s DCU appearance.

While Gunn has yet to officially announce the character’s appearance, the director has confirmed that Xolo Maridueña, who donned the mantle of Blue Beetle prior to the DCU’s launch, will be reprising the role soon.

When asked if such an event could happen in future Peacemaker seasons in a recent interaction with IMDb, Gunn laughed and said that he wouldn’t say the interviewer “was not in luck.”
