Jake Paul may have had to settle for facing former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. as his next opponent. However, ‘The Problem Child’ continues to rake in cash like it’s flowing freely. This follows his victory over legendary heavyweight champion Mike Tyson last November, which earned him a hefty payday. In the Netflix exclusive fight last year, several reports suggest that Jake Paul walked away with a whopping $40 million while Tyson had to settle for a reported $20 million. And those paychecks made sense because of the record-breaking nature of the event. The fight not only became the most watched live bout in the history of the sport, but it did more.
The event reportedly garnered $18.1 million in gate revenue, breaking Canelo Alvarez’s previous record in the state of Texas. In contrast, Paul’s fight against Chavez Jr. is not on Netflix (it’s on DAZN), nor is it a big fight for Paul, who is expected to make quick work of the aging and out-of-prime Chavez Jr. So, this begs the question: Will Paul make the same sort of money from the fight?
It appears Terence Crawford’s former opponent, John Molina Jr., believes that he could. Speaking to Fight Hype recently, Molina Jr. was asked about his thoughts on Paul’s transition into boxing. In response, he said, “It’s great matchmaking. Matchmaking is good in the sport. I can’t be mad at him; the guy’s legalized bank robbing.”

“I mean it is what it is, if you’re going to pay me $30 million to fight an average guy, not saying that Chavez is average, I’m saying before the previous guys that he fought, then yeah I’m going to do it,” he told the reporter. “So, you can’t hold it against him.” This suggests Paul could make $30 million from the fight, even though Chavez Jr. isn’t much of a draw at this late of a stage in his career.
Despite this revelation, the purse details have yet to be officially disclosed by DAZN or Paul’s Most Valuable Promotion. While Paul is expecting another $30 million to come in, he seems to have spent $42 million before that.
Jake Paul drops 42 big ones on Georgia Estate
According to a report from TMZ Sports, Jake Paul is stepping up his game with a major purchase in Georgia, reportedly dropping $42 million on a sprawling 5,700-acre estate in Decatur County. The property is packed with luxury and outdoor potential, featuring a lodge, horse barn, guest house, duck pond, lake, and even a 200-foot bluff overlooking Lake Seminole.
It’s a dream spot for outdoor enthusiasts, offering space for hunting, fishing, boating, and more. While Jake’s unlikely to make it his primary residence, the estate reflects his growing business ventures beyond the ring. The YouTube star-turned-boxer has seen massive success, not only from his athletic career but also through smart investments like his Betr sportsbook and Most Valuable Promotions.
That said, it appears that even though Jake Paul downgraded in the quality of his opponent, he is still getting a pretty great payday, more than many boxers today. Meanwhile, he seems to be investing that money in real estate. Do you think the Chavez Jr. fight justifies the paycheck?
