The box office hasn't been kind to Jake Gyllenhaal in 2026. In February, the Brokeback Mountain star featured in The Bride!, the sophomore directorial effort by his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal. The film stars Jessie Buckley, who also starred in Gyllenhaal's directorial debut, The Lost Daughter, and was released just weeks away from Buckley's expected Academy Award triumph. Alas, this wasn't enough to entice audiences, with The Bride! returning just $23 million of its reported $80 million box office budget in what stands as one of the biggest box office flops of 2026 so far.
