It has been nearly a decade since the Thunder made it to the West Finals. The last time it happened was in 2016, with a squad led by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Now, following years of playoffs disappointment, they finally have a chance to do it again with a new group. Leading the charge? Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. However, his unfortunate injury in tonight’s potential close out game could put their Finals ambition on hold yet again.
3-2 up in the series, the Thunder have a chance to put the Nuggets series to bed tonight and advance to the Conference Finals. While they have had the upper hand for the majority of the game, a concerning visual could cause trouble going forward. During the second quarter, Shai was seen grimacing in pain after seemingly hurting his right hand. The issue was clearly bothering him as he was not even dribbling with that hand anymore.
Even the on-air announcers pointed out SGA’s misery on Live TV, “Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hurt his hand. He is in some serious pain.” Fortunately for the Thunder, the superstar guard continued playing despite the pain.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander seems to have hurt his right hand.
It’s really bothering him right now and he’s not dribbling with it at all.
