Ricky Hatton’s showbiz career

In 2023, Hatton was the first competitor announced for the 16th season of the ITV series Dancing on Ice.

He was also the first contestant eliminated when the show began on January 2024.

He said at the time: ‘I’m gutted to be going home. I may be out in the first round, but I’ve had a great time and made some wonderful friends.’

During his time on the show, he playfully punched Stephen Mulhern on the arm in a mock sketch. Stephen revealed that he received a big bruise from the jokey incident.

‘He nearly knocked me out. If I showed you the bruise, it is massive. It’s on the arm, it’s very painful,’ he told The Sun.

The star also appeared in a Sky documentary about his career titled Hatton, which was nominated for a Bafta in 2024.

In 2008, he hosted his own live chat show called Ricky Speaks on Nuts TV and in 2009, he hosted WWE Raw at the Sheffield Arena, beating professional wrestler Chavo Guerrero in a match.

When did Ricky Hatton date Claire Sweeney?

Hatton famously dated Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney, 54, after appearing on Dancing on Ice together.

The pair had apparently known each other for years by the time they appeared on the competition, but that was where their romance blossomed.

The pair were snapped on various occasions and in May 2024 made it red-carpet official at the first opening night of the £365m Co-op Live Arena in Manchester.

They also shared snaps from holidays in Mallorca and Tenerife.

Speaking about their relationship with Prime Casino, Hatton said: ‘I’ve known Claire for a while. I’ve met her at a few functions and at different events over the years.

‘Every time we’ve spoken we’ve hit it off and got on with each other.’

He added: ‘I knew how we had got on so well every time we met each other. I probably thought I had half a chance.

‘It’s amazing [to find] someone you’ve probably known for 25 years. I’ve been in relationships, and she’s been in relationships. I’ve had my kids, and she’s had her kids. And then 25 years late,r we found each other. It’s quite a nice story.’

Claire told ITV’s Lorraine: ‘I’ve known Ricky for, like, 25 years. We always passed each other at events.’

She added: ‘We did a TV show together. First of all I met him in the early 2000s, then we did Dance for Comic Relief together in 2013. Then met on Dancing on Ice and it’s great…’

Hatton also told the Mirror that Claire was the highlight of his Dancing on Ice experience: ‘I got knocked out in the first round, but I was able to able to meet Claire. I was always a Billy no mates at these things before Claire.’

He added: ‘No, it’s great! Me and Claire have been together about five months now,” before adding: “Long may it continue!’

The pair went on to split in December 2024, with Claire telling MailOnline: ‘I’m great – we’re still friends, we were friends, we dated and now we’re friends again. It’s all good!’
