Xtra Time Web Desk: Stand-out performances from Dhruv Jurel (90 off 149) and the spin duo of Ravi Ashwin (51/5) and Kuldeep Yadav (22/4) saw India in driver’s seat at stumps on Day 3 of the Ranchi test. Starting the day at 219/7, Jurel’s resilient innings of 90 runs stood out as a heroic effort. The second session saw the Indian spinners taking charge, with Ashwin claiming a fifer and Kuldeep bagging four-wickets.

In pursuit of a target of 192 runs, Rohit Sharma (24*) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (16*) provided a solid start for India. They have put on 40 runs as the hosts still require another 152 runs to win the test and seal the five-match test series.

Earlier in the day. despite the departure of Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep, Jurel continued to punish the English bowlers, leading the charge until he reached an impressive 90. He was bowled by Tom Hartley. Shoaib Bashir shone for England, achieving his maiden Test fifer.

The Indian bowlers, particularly Ashwin and Kuldeep, did not let England settle in their second innings. Ashwin took an early three-wicket haul, toppling England’s top order, while Zac Crawley managed a promising 70-ball fifty before Kuldeep Yadav dismissed him at 60. Bairstow attempted to anchor the innings with a gritty 30, but Ravindra Jadeja scalped him on the first ball after Tea. Kuldeep Yadav continued his exceptional performance with a four-fer, and Ashwin returned later to complete his fifer, marking his first in the Test series. England was bowled out for 145, setting a target of 192 for India to chase and win.
