Bill Lawrence might just be one of the best comedy and sitcom creator of our time. Not only did he create the massive hit Scrubs and help to develop the award-winning Ted Lasso, but his current series, Apple TV's Shrinking, has only gotten better since its debut back in 2023. But all of that is, in part, because Shrinking has adapted more to the vibe of creator Bill Lawrence’s previous sitcom, Cougar Town. Although Cougar Town never achieved the same success, it had a devoted cult following and managed to last six seasons — thanks to TBS saving it after a cancellation. The sitcom about a hot mom who tries dating younger men developing a cult following of comedy nerds was so surprising that it became a running gag on Community. But as funny as those Community jokes were, Cougar Town deserves to be more than a punchline. It's arguably Lawrence’s best show and definitely the one most similar to Shrinking.
