Britt Lower and Sam Worthington in Netflix's I Will Find YouThis article contains major spoilers for I Will Find You.
I Will Find You’s showrunner has shared his take on the Netflix drama’s ambiguous final scenes.
The latest collaboration between the streaming giant and crime author Harlan Coben stars Severance’s Britt Lower and Avatar’s Sam Worthington as Rachel Mills and David Burroughs.
At the beginning of the series, David is serving a life sentence after being wrongly convicted for the murder of his son, only for his life to be turned upside down yet again when – in true Harlan Coben fashion – he receives word from Rachel that the youngster may actually still be alive.
The duo then work together to uncover the mystery over the course of the drama’s eight episodes.
In its final moments, Britt’s character is seen reaching out for David’s hand – leaving things open-ended as to whether romance could be about to blossom between them.
I Will Find You has been another hit Harlan Coben adaptation for NetflixSpeaking to Us Weekly, creator Robert Hull admitted that he wanted to diverge from the original Harlan Coben book with the ending of i Will Find You.
He explained: “That is meant to indicate what I truly wanted to do — and this is a little different from the book. My goal was to make you want them to be together.”
Robert continued: “Whether they are or not, I think is left open because I think there’s different definitions of soulmates and I think the journey that they’ve gone on, they’re so connected.
“If that turns romantic all the better, but I just wanted people rooting for it. After that, my job’s done.”
Following its release, I Will Find You was met with a lukewarm response from critics, although many of them correctly predicted that this wouldn’t stop people from tuning in, and at the time of writing, it’s currently at the top of Netflix UK’s most-watched TV shows chart.
I Will Find You is available to stream in full now on Netflix.
