The first thing that springs to mind when I think of Glossier, is the signature You fragrance. I remember the first time I stepped foot in the store, I couldn’t get enough of the scent wafting through my nostrils, and needed it pumped throughout my home like it is in the flagship stores.

Ever since Glossier launched its You fragrance in 2017, which sold out due to popular demand (naturally), I have worn it every day. While I generally wear it in the day time, it is the perfect base scent to layer other fragrances on for evening, namely my beloved Escentric Molecules

I’ve tried the solid perfume, deodorant and scented candle, and stock up on Glossier’s You perfume numerous times throughout the year.  Some may even say, I’m a die-hard fan.

Fast forward to 2024, Glossier expanded its fragrance collection to include You Rêve and You Doux, which I have also tried.  While I prefer You Doux out of the two, I’m still an OG You original stan.

Enter 2025, and Glossier has added to the You fragrance line once again with the You Fleur scent. Admittedly, I was dubious.  Do we really need another You fragrance? But I have been testing it for the last few weeks, so I thought I’d share my honest thoughts.

The Glossier You Fleur is a multi-layered skin-scent, which boasts notes of ylang ylang, apricot, osmanthus, as well as mineral salt to ground the sweeter notes, with the help of deep cashmeran and suede base notes.

The website reads: ‘Fleur shares the same warm, musky base note as Glossier You – so it smells a little bit different on everyone.’

Now I’m aware scents react differently with your body’s natural oils, but Glossier’s fragrances have been designed to function as skin-scent enhancers. This means they can be worn beautifully on their own, but also layer well with other fragrances.

When I think of floral scents I stereotypically think of grandmother’s with their rose or jasmine perfumes (sorry!), but Fleur is a far cry from that, which I was pleased to learn. Yes, I could detect botanical layers, but those floral accords are subtle – not like I had blindly walked into a fragrant rose bush, which I assumed this creation would smell like.

There is no denying it is a floral fragrance when you first spritz it, but as You Fleur settled on my skin the blend transformed into a softer scent that bordered on being more musk and mysterious, which I prefer, especially as I lean towards citrus or musk blends over floral. At times, I would catch a waft and could detect coconut notes, which I put down to the blend of ylang ylang and the woody combination.

What I love is You Fleur is not heady, pungent, overbearing, or sickly sweet like traditional floral fragrances – much to my delight. Glossier has crafted a floral fragrance that is a happy medium between being light, fresh, slightly sweet, but wearable. If I was to describe Glossier’s You Fleur I would liken it to a fresh sea breeze blowing in from the tropical coast while sipping on a pina colada at sunset.

The bottle is the same shape as the other designs in the range, which I expected, but it is in a lilac colourway. If I’m being super picky, I was surprised to find the bottle in a purple tone, as I expected a sunshine yellow or different pink tone to reflect the title – but then again the original You is in a pink dusky rose tone.

Plus, Glossier’s new drop is vegan and cruelty free, which is ideal for the eco-conscious beauty buff.

I would definitely recommend it for those who like a floral or tropical fragrance, as well as those looking for a new summer scent because the aromas fit that brief perfectly. While I prefer You Fleur to the opulent You Rêve, Glossier’s original You still remains the reigning champion in my eyes purely because I am prefer a fresh scent to sweeter perfumes.
