“I Thought I Was On the Chopping Block”: Ryan Guzman Reveals His Reaction To That Unbelievable ‘9-1-1’ Death

A few weeks ago, after 9-1-1 did the unthinkable and killed-off the beloved captain of the 118, Peter Krause’s Bobby Nash, a handful of actors — including Angela Bassett— revealed that they had worried they’d be the ones to go. While none of the talented cast saw Krause’s exit coming, another has recently stepped forward to recount receiving the heartbreaking news that a family member would be exiting the series for good. While chatting with Us Weekly, Ryan Guzman, who plays firefighter Eddie Diaz, revealed that for a moment he thought that he was “on the chopping block” when the number of showrunner Tim Minear appeared on his phone. “I got the call from Tim [when] I hadn’t really worked in a month or so,” Guzman said, “I hadn’t been in two episodes. So I thought the call was for me!”
