When the Roseanne reboot started in 2018, the star of the '80s sitcom, Roseanne Barr, was understandably front and center. After racist tweets and several controversies, however, ABC decided to part ways with the comedian and rebrand as The Conners. This proved to be a smart move, as the series recently wrapped after seven seasons and starred Dan (John Goodman), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), Becky (Lecy Goranson), Jackie (Laurie Metcalf), and the rest of the Conners, drawing in fans both old and new. Aside from addressing the character's death from an accidental overdose on painkillers, The Conners avoided mentioning Roseanne as best it could. This is why the final season's decision to bring Roseanne back to the center of the series still surprises me weeks later.
