True Detective Season 1 has long been regarded as the anthology series' best. Starring Woody Harrelson as Martin Hart and Matthew McConaughey as Rustin Cohle, the season launched the series created by Nic Pizzolatto for HBO. There have been four seasons of the show created over the past 11 years, each with a different cast and characters. Pizzolatto had been at the helm of the first three before departing, and Issa Lopez took over.
