Ethan Hawke may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of an A-list star, but his filmography holds up as well as any of his peers, especially those from his generation. Hawke is a five-time Oscar nominee for his performances in Training Day, Before Sunset, Before Midnight, Boyhood, and Blue Moon, and although the Academy Award has evaded him to this point in his career, earning five nominations for his performances and writing is an impressive enough accolade by itself. Hawke has settled into some different roles in the last few years of his career, including playing the Grabber in the Black Phone horror movies under director Scott Derrickson. He’s also secured a role in one of the most underrated neo-Western TV shows of the last few years, The Lowdown, which streams on Hulu.
