Deepika Padukone has once again found her name in the headlines; however, it is not due to a role she is playing in any movie but for a demand which has reportedly shocked the entire film industry's work ethic to its core. After becoming a mother, the actress reportedly asked for an 8-hour work shift for working on Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit. Housefull 5 director Tarun Mansukhani has now also shared his views on the topic.
Tarun Mansukhani, who is all set to release his film Housefull 5, recently expressed his openness to the idea of working only 8 hours a day. However, he pointed out that the successful implementation of the idea would require a lot of structured planning as a significant amount of workforce and money is invested in the creation of a film. He said that if an actor wants an 8-hour shift, it should be mentioned in their contract so that the entire team is prepared accordingly. In an interaction with India Today, the Housefull 5 director said, "No problem. Eight Hours? I'll need that many extra days and then we'll go ahead. That's it. All I'm saying is, tell me in advance." Tarun said that he understood and supported the idea of artists wanting to spend more time with their families, especially new moms, but also mentioned the logistical issues that arise during a film shoot. "You can't come to me at 11 am and say, 'Oh, I need to leave at 5'. I have scenes to finish with other actors, a location that may not be available again, and a budget to look into," Tarun added.
The debate about 8-hour work shifts in Bollywood gained traction after Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone reportedly walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film Spirit due to demands that included working 8-hour shifts due to a newborn baby at her home.
