Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (March 5) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.

Diane Hutchinson’s (Alex Fletcher) life was left hanging in the balance after she slipped and fell in the bath while trying to close a window.

The landlady of The Dog in the Pond, as viewers know, has been struggling to come to terms with the prospect of Ro (Ava Webster) going to prison after he was accused of stabbing Oscar Osborne (Noah Holdsworth).

Ro is being bullied by Arlo Fielding (Dan Hough) and, fearful for his life, the young lad took out a knife during a showdown with the school bully, with Oscar ultimately getting injured.

With Arlo dripping more poison in his ear about what prison could be like, Ro was left terrified. Not wanting to stand out, he decided to wear a dress and put on some make-up.

Diane, however, was left reeling when realised what Ro was wearing and lashed out, refusing to let him hide his true self.

‘We’ve come too far for this’, she exclaimed, before trying to remove the make-up from Ro’s face.

Nancy (Jessica Fox) and Marie (Rita Simons) intervened and offered their support and, seeing how much she was struggling, they agreed to take the kids for the night to allow her some time to herself.

Diane, however, subsequently relapsed as she took a bottle of alcohol up to the bathroom with her and, after running herself a bath, she leaned forward to close a window when she slipped and fell, hitting her head.

Tony (Nick Pickard) arrived to find her in the nick of time, waking her up. Will Diane be okay?

The landlady has decided to sell the pub in order to fund the best legal representation for Ro, vowing to do whatever it takes to stop her son from going to jail.

But will it come to that?
