A hit 2023 RPG, which is currently console exclusive to Xbox One and Series X|S, is headed to the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2. For some reason, however, Back to the Dawn is skipping a PS4 release despite being available on all other last-gen platforms.
Prison-escape-themed RPG Back to the Dawn making its way to PS5 in 2026
Back to the Dawn first launched in early access on PC followed by a full release on both PC and Xbox. The game earned “overwhelmingly positive” ratings on Steam alone, based on over 1,000 verified votes.
Back to the Dawn’s PS5 version will come with support for additional languages, and new Japanese and Chinese voice acting.
“In this prison-escape-themed RPG, crime, conspiracy, and hidden traps intertwine, while the relationships between characters grow increasingly complex,” reads an official overview. “Step into the role of an animal inmate, survive the harsh realities of prison life, explore, grow, and plan your escape.”
Players can choose between two protagonists, each with a story lasting over 20 hours. Players will encounter “three powerful gangs, 47 uniquely crafted inmates, and dozens of memorable NPCs” over the course of 100+ quests.
Back to the Dawn has been given a PS5 release window of 2026. A release date has yet to be announced but you can wishlist the game on PS Store.
