Here's Why This 1 Celebrity Traitors Star Turned Down The Offer To Join The Group Chat

The Celebrity Traitors cast’s chat is the rare WhatsApp group we’d actually love to receive a million notifications from come Thursday night, but there’s one person who’s noticeably absent from it.

Kate Garraway recently teased that the cast’s “WhatsApp group is popping off all day and night” while the show is on the air, adding that it’s “brilliant” in an interview with The Sun. 

However, host Claudia Winkleman won’t be getting the live play-by-play reactions as the celebrities see iconic scenes like Celia Imrie’s fart and Alan Carr’sso-unconvincing-it’s-convincing “Traitor” behaviour play out to the public.

“We invited Claudia to join the group because we all adore Claudia, obviously,” Kate explained. “But she said no.”

Rather than any inter-celeb beef, the presenter apparently turned down the invitation for a noble reason, with the Good Morning Britain host explaining: “She said, ‘you need a place that’s just for you guys now that you’re out and you know what’s going on’. 

“Because obviously, you know, there’s so much that I didn’t know that I’ve learned by watching it – all the comments that are made when you’re not in the room.”

Either that or she doesn’t want her phone blowing up with Traitors memes day and night. 

The Celebrity Traitors will reach its conclusion on Thursday, in a finale that will see original “Traitors” Alan and Cat Burns go head-to-head with remaining “Faithfuls” Nick Mohammed, David Olusoga and Joe Marler to win money for their chosen charities. 

It’s been a series filled with all the delicious Traitors drama we’ve come to love and expect from the series, with the usual backstabbing, wrongful banishments and alliances. 

This time around, there’s also been the added fun of inter-personal relationships between the celebrities (e.g. Joe Wilkinson and Joe Marler’s “Joemance” and Cat and Alan’s “Traitor” bond) and an entertainingly poor track record of sniffing out the “Traitors” bringing us treasured memes like Mark Bonnar’s fiery reactions. 

The Celebrity Traitors final will air on BBC One and iPlayer on Thursday 6 November at 9pm.
