Henry Golding Tries Lucid Dreaming to Connect With Dead Girlfriend in Daniela Forever Trailer

Well Go USA has shared the official Daniela Forever trailer for the upcoming sci-fi drama led by Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding, who was most recently seen in the Another Simple Favor sequel. The movie is scheduled to make its debut in select theaters on July 11, followed by its digital release on July 22.

“Grieving the loss of his girlfriend Daniela, Nicolás is consumed by sorrow. He sees a glimmer of hope when he’s offered a chance to participate in a groundbreaking sleep therapy that simulates reality,” reads the synopsis. “But as dream and memory blur, he must confront what healing really means—and whether he’s ready to let go.”

What happens in the Daniela Forever trailer?

The video shows Golding’s character as he struggles to move on from the death of his girlfriend. He tries lucid dreaming in hopes of reconnecting with Daniela. However, instead of learning how to handle his grief, he misuses the simulation therapy for his own benefit. The cast also includes Beatrice Grannò, Aura Garrido, Rubén Ochandiano, and Nathalie Poza.

Daniela Forever is written and directed by visionary filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo (Colossal). It is described as a sci-fi journey through love, loss, and illusion. The movie is produced by Vigalondo, Todd Brown, Maxime Cottray, Nahikari Ipiña, Nick Spicer, and Aram Tertzakian. The creative team also includes cinematographer Jon D. Domínguez and editor Carolina Martínez Urbina. The movie had its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
