Heartstopper Forever Trailer Is What Fans of Joe Locke Netflix TV Show Have Been Waiting For

Netflix has released the trailer for Heartstopper Forever, the feature-length finale of the British romance series. The film serves as the conclusion to the three-season Heartstopper, wrapping up Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring’s romantic saga.

The film’s synopsis reads, “Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?”

What do we see in the Heartstopper Forever trailer?

The trailer starts by showing the growing tensions in Nick and Charlie’s relationship, which is strained by their individual ambitions. “I need you to be okay without me,” Charlie tells Nick after a low point. The footage then shows glimpses of the rest of the cast doing various activities, including partaking in a pride parade. The trailer is set to Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Stupid Song’ from her album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.

The film, like the series before it, is based on Alice Oseman‘s eponymous graphic novel. Oseman also serves as the writer and creator of the Netflix film.

“Heartstopper starts like a fairy tale and a bit idealistic, in a beautiful way that we all love,” Oseman told Tudum. “But in the film, we’re taking a slightly grittier look at romance and what it is to be in a long-term relationship. I find that fascinating and exciting.”

“They’re not adults yet, but there’s that feeling of looking over the edge of a cliff, and you know you’re about to fall over it,” said Patrick Walters, executive producer of Heartstopper. “It’s going to be exciting, but you’re also scared. And that kind of energy and fizz is evolved and has a maturity, and still speaks to the teenage experience.”

Heartstopper Forever stars Kit Connor, Joe Locke, William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Jenny Walser, Rhea Norwood, and Leila Khan. The film is directed by Wash Westmoreland, with Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Alice Oseman, Euros Lyn, Joe Locke, and Kit Connor serving as executive producers.

Heartstopper Forever releases on Netflix on July 17, 2026.
