When James Gunn took over creative control of DC a few years ago, most fans were excited after his successful tenure handling the Guardians of the Galaxy in the MCU. Gunn’s first few DCU projects were hits with fans, but it wasn’t until the release of Supergirl earlier this year that some began to doubt the direction he’s taking the franchise. Though Gunn didn’t write or direct Supergirl, the movie certainly wouldn’t have moved forward without his stamp of approval. Gunn is getting back in the driver’s seat for the next DCU movie in 2027 with Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel starring David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult. The film is also bringing in other DCU veterans like Milly Alcock as Supergirl, and even a star introduced in the newest DCU project out now.
