The much-anticipated series You is here with its fifth season. It focuses on Joe Goldberg trying to lead a happy life in New York. However, his past and his dark desires threaten to ruin everything. With the premiere of the fifth installment, fans have naturally grown curious about the next chapters of the series. So, is You canceled or renewed for Season 6?

Here is everything you need to know about the future of the psychological thriller series.

Is You Season 6 canceled by Netflix?

No, You Season 6 has not been canceled by Netflix. However, the series is coming to an end.

Season 5 premiered on April 24, 2025. Additionally, fans were hopeful about an extra number of episodes. This was due to Netflix’s recent trend of dividing its shows into two or three parts for hype. They followed this trend in numerous popular shows like Outer Banks, Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, Beauty in Black, and many others. As such, viewers were expecting You to follow a similar route owing to its massive popularity. Sadly, the show isn’t following this trend as all its 10 episodes were released at once on their scheduled dates and times.

Further, fans are curious about the show’s next installments. However, the show won’t be returning with more seasons. While You isn’t getting canceled, it received a natural conclusion. For the unversed, You is originally adapted from a thriller novel written by Caroline Kepnes. With the source materials, aka the novel, coming to an end, the series creators decided to give it a conclusive end.

Penn Badgley, who plays the lead character of Joe Goldberg, opened up on the show’s final season with Netflix’s Tudum. He stated, “Every season they manage to find new space to make it interesting and relevant. And this season, I think somehow coming back to where it started allowed for it to just become grounded in the way that it needs to also have this kind of spectacular finish.”

Meanwhile, co-showrunners and executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo called it a rare opportunity to “do five seasons of a show and bring your character and the production back to where it all began.”
