Fahy also confirmed that neither she nor the rest of the cast knew the ending while filming. She stated, “We were well into filming before we knew where it was going.” The finale was shot separately and revealed Simone’s decision to stay with Peter and Devon’s return to Buffalo.

The story concludes with a solemn ferry ride and emotional closure between Devon and Michaela. Fahy emphasized Devon’s transformation, saying, “You see a huge evolution with her… she leaves with more self-respect than she arrived with.”

Netflix has not provided updates on future development, and no Season 2 is currently in production.
