Halle Berry calls out critics of her intimate Mother’s Day video

Halle Berry addressed criticism surrounding her Mother’s Day video during her June 4 appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends.

The 58-year-old actress had posted an Instagram clip in bed with her longtime boyfriend Van Hunt, teasing romantic plans and referencing a product from her wellness brand. The post received mixed responses, with some users questioning its appropriateness.

Berry said, “Women, other women, got in their feelings… ‘Should she be talking about that on Mother’s Day? Shouldn’t she be with her kids somewhere?’” In response, she stated, “It’s not Kid’s Day. It’s called Mother’s Day. Kid’s Day is every day of the year. That’s my day. And if I wanna be in bed and spin with my man, then that’s what I’m gonna do” (via Today).

Berry, a mother of two, used the video to tease “Let’s Spin,” a lubricant product featured on her Respin platform. She emphasized that no explicit visuals were shown. “We were under the sheets. You saw nothing,” she said. When discussing the backlash, she added, “It’s the most natural thing that we do as women, as men… Instagram is a family channel, yeah, and we should be allowed to talk about this in our families.”

Berry also defended herself in the video’s comments section. After one user remarked, “That’s not what Mothers Day is all about,” Berry replied, “It’s allowed to be interpreted how ever we want. We are all different and that’s ok. I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!”

Jenna Bush Hager noted Berry seemed in love, to which Berry confirmed, “Yes, and it should be okay to celebrate that and not be criticized… we should talk more about loving each other and not fighting. So whoever didn’t like it, so what.”
