Guyana’s ruling party takes early lead as upstart opposition party surges
The ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) took an early lead Wednesday, winning five of Guyana’s ten district while newcomer We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), led by US-sanctioned businessman Azruddin Mohamed, captured one district. The South American country, one of the world's fastest-growing economies since its 2019 oil boom, began its election on Monday.
