Grimes has said that she’s “begged” her ex-partner Elon Musk to keep her children out of the public eye.

The Canadian artist (real name Claire Boucher) shares three children with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO: X Æ A-Xii (aka Lil X), Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, and Techno Mechanicus (aka Tau).

The former couple announced their split in September 2021, confirming that they had broken up after three years together but “still love each other”. Following Donald Trump’s US Presidential election win last November, Musk was appointed by the POTUS to lead his new Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Since then, the couple’s children have increasingly been in the public eye. In February, Grimes hit out at the tech billionaire for parading Lil X around the Oval Office in the White House as Trump signed an executive order to bolster DOGE’s powers in government.

Now, Grimes has once again spoken out about her family’s privacy. Responding to a widely-circulated fake post on X/Twitter that pretends to show Grimes talks about the “sexuality and kinks” of “Fortune 500 CEOs”, a fan asked the singer: “How to protect your children from this? Can’t you wipe this garbage from the internet? Art imitates life and I hope you find a solution.”

Grimes then responded: “I unfortunately do not control the internet and cannot wipe this from the internet. I have tried begging the public and my kids dad to keep them offline, and I’ve tried legal recourse.”

She went on to say: “The state of my children’s lives being public is of grave concern to me and I think about how to solve this every day. It’s insane to me that theres no way to deal with this . I would hope there was some law that would allow a parent to veto small children from living public lives but I don’t even trust the law to help me now if I tried to invoke it tbh.

“We are in the Wild West of information content and the dismantling of privacy and it’s very concerning”

Grimes’ latest comments follow her accusing Musk of allegedly “ignoring” their child’s “medical crisis” last month. She did not reveal which child she was referring to, and has not disclosed any further details about the situation.

“I am sorry to do this publicly but it’s no longer acceptable to ignore this situation. This requires immediate attention,” Grimes wrote on X/Twitter – which was bought by Musk in 2022 for $44billion.

“If you don’t want to talk to me can you please designate or hire someone who can so that we can move forward on solving this. This is urgent, Elon.”

In a separate post, the singer and producer explained: “I’m not giving any details but he won’t respond to texts, call or emails and has skipped every meeting and our child will suffer life long impairment if he doesn’t respond asap, so I need him to fucking respond and if I have to apply public pressure then I guess that’s where we are at.”

Last November, Grimes opened up about her custody battle with Musk over their children, claiming: “I didn’t see one of my babies for five months.” Over the summer, Grimes’ mother Sandy Garossino pleaded with Musk to let her 93-year-old mother see her great-grandchildren “one last time” while she was in “end-of-life palliative care”.

In 2023, Grimes sued Musk over the custody rights to Tau, claiming that he wasn’t letting her visit him. Musk is a father of 13 children in total, some of whom were conceived via IVF.

Grimes recently clarified her stance on Musk‘s controversial Nazi-like gestures at Trump‘s Presidential inauguration last month.

In other news, Grimes has shared two previously unreleased demos on Soundcloud: ‘I Don’t Give A Fuck, I’m Insane’ and ‘The Fool’.
